Jacques Duphly is remembered not so much as a composer, but as one of the best harpsichord teachers and performers in Paris during the instrument’s “Golden Age”. His extant oeuvre consists of only four books of harpsichord music (52 compositions in all), Duphly was just a name to me and buying this was an impulse purchase base, alone, on era the wrote in; but what a great find! I'm not a musician but I would describe Duphly's works like discovering additional pieces by Rameau and Couperin that I'd not heard before. I'd not heard of Belder before either, but his playing is exciting an vibrant.
